Dale was born and raised in Japan as a Third Culture Kid (TCK), the son of missionary parents who served first in China and then in Japan.
After graduating from Trinity Western University (TWU) with an A.A., Dale earned his B.A. in philosophy and anthropology from Simon Fraser University (SFU) in 1977. Both universities are located in the greater Vancouver area of BC, Canada.
Following theological study at both Regent College in Vancouver and at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (GCTS) in Boston, Dale received his M.Div. degree in 1982 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), located in the greater Chicago area. He also holds a Ph.D. in systematic theology from TEDS, completed in 2000.
Dale lectures part time in theology at Japan Bible Seminary and Tokyo Christian University, while also ministering as a missionary in Japan with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada Mission, serving in church planting and tsunami recovery ministry. He is also the voluntary President of Japan Evangelical Missionary Association.
Dale is happily married to Ann and they have three grown children in undergraduate or graduate studies in the US.
